Hidalgo
is a town of about 22,000 inhabitants, located 40 km northwest of
Monterrey in the state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico. It is the closest
town to the cliffs of Potrero Chico; if you stay at Rancho Cerro
Gordo, you will purchase most of your daily necessities here. There
are supermarkets, restaurants, pharmacies, hardware stores, etc.
However there are no specialized climbing or biking stores - for
those you have to go to Monterrey. Here is some information to help
you orient yourself in Hidalgo and to make the best use of the services
the town has to offer.
